mijn idee voor kansen voor nieuwe technologieën voor ontwikkelingssamenwerking:
We have a busy schedule: we need good governance to make sure new technologies are embedded properly and that benefits end up in right hands. We need guarantees of human rights so that initiatives are implemented the way the‘re supposed to. We have to prevent braindrain to break the vicious circle of poverty. Learn from each others best practices. Share knowledge. Establish ownership by initiatives as microfinance. Stop unfair trade caused by e.g. agricultural subsidies in western countries. Create awareness in the field to make sure development projects are being picked up and followed up. Find a mixture between passionate and small projects versus huge, complex and sustainable operations. Fortunately many are aware of this. Hence, massive awareness anno 2009 is created by new communication technology: Development Cooperation 2.0. With current traditional NGO’s lacking connection with modern time, a new form of communcation and creation of awareness is required to continue development cooperation. This entails ensuring transparency, establishing personal connections and improving efficiency in development programs. We have to respond to present criticism to be able to finish the complete the job we inadvertently began a long time ago: make underdeveloped countries independent from western economy, politics and culture.
mijn idee om mensen te mobiliseren voor bovenstaande aanbeveling:
Social media is the mobilization tool of our time. As long as your country allows free media you can use online buzz to strengthen your offline message and create mandate for it. Internet and globalisation in general, changed the world and created a different way of establishing movements and carrying out thoughts. A whole different way of life even, as we all know. Creating mandate today is not only about the UN exercising pressure to pursuade the Birman regime to mitigate suppressment of the opposition. It’s about enforcing a genocide via online petition, promoting Belarusian identity via Facebook or introducing green tweets for Teheran. They all appeal to politics of recognition and it’s probably not breaking news that the latter will grow intensely in the coming years.
