| New technology provides a major impact on the achievement of the MDG’s. It is a great opportunity for successful development. The acceptance of mobile phone and internet in Southern countries is very high. The economic growth in these countries is largely due to it.
Thus, Southern countries have been given direct access to the knowledge sources and information from the northern and western economies. This provides opportunities for empowerment in many areas of the less privileged countries. Thanks to the mobile phone the speed and range of communication has increased and became accessible to many. The Diaspora can send money to their family faster and cheaper via mobile money transfers. Internet through the mobile technology faster and more remote locations in Southern countries. Trade and agriculture get therefore better opportunities. But the knowledge about each other‘s society has globally increasing. Culturally a merge to both sides develops. Especially the youth is growing global to each other thanks to ICT. |

| The motions that I earlier have submitted as a member of the Third Chamber I will develop using the new technology. I will focus on three priorities: press freedom, health and education.
Independent journalism websites ensure a free press with news and background information on politics and development, by editors from Southern and Western countries. This is an important instrument for democratic development and good governance.
Distribution of knowledge and communication on health through ICT to remote places will assist health professionals to improve the quality of their work. Health Insurance possibly linked to a development, people in Southern countries against the poverty trap.
Education has many possibilities for application of ICT, such as “One Laptop Per Child“, making good quality of education available in remote locations.
The quality of the many private initiatives for development cooperation can be improved by computerized access to protocols to assess and review projects. Initiatives and requests from the Southern countries will have direct access to Western sources of private initiative. |
